Singer Reimagined. A name that took the watch scene last year like a tornado with their Singer Reimagined Track 1 chronograph. This magnificent timepiece is a child of a collaboration between three worlds, three passionate experts in their respected fields. First Marco Borraccino, an industrial design specialist with many ties to the watch industry. Then there’s Rob Dickinson, a Porsche fanatic and owner of Singer Vehicle Design who hooked up over common interest in cars. The friendship evolved and the idea of a new watch was born. However, they needed someone to help them turn their idea into reality. They were still missing a crucial piece; a watchmaker. This is when Jean-Marc Wiederrecht horological genius and owner of Agenhor stepped into the picture. Jean-Marc had quietly been working on a movement as his passion project that Marco saw like a perfect fit to their venture.
Track 1
The guys already knew they were on the right track (pun intended). As Marco explained to me; the Track 1 was a dream come true. A unique passion project. Nonetheless it was also a great test to see how the market and the industry would react to such a creation. Needless to say, the response was more than positive which only added more fuel to their fire. I knew about the Singer Reimagined Track 1 but it was not until Dubai Watch Week, that I actually had my first encounter with the timepiece. I was taken aback by the great wearability and awesome looks of it. On the one hand, it truly looks like something from the 1970’s, an era Marco took inspiration from. But the watch is of course a modern interpretation with a movement that is second to none.
Singer Reimagined Track 1 Geneva Edition
The new Singer Reimagined Track 1 Geneva Edition is basically the real foundation Singer Reimagined would like to build their collection in the future on. According to Marco; the Track1 is a great test and passion project. The Track 1 Geneva Edition however is the base for the future releases. The design is much cleaner, the chronograph indications have been move to the outer of the dial. This also allowed them to simplify the look of the watch and focus more on simplicity. Still, the Singer Reimagined Track 1 Geneva Edition is anything but simple. Let’s look at the heart of the watch. It is an automatic, mechanical, column-wheel movement with 477 parts, over 60 hours of power reserve with 21,600 vph. The case of the watch is 18k yellow gold, 43mm wide and 15mm thick with water resistance to 100 meters. Retails is 72,000 CHF (excluding VAT).

The devil is in the details – a statement that is so fitting to Singer Vehicle Design. Their reinterpretation of the Porsche 911 might not be suitable to everyone. For all of those who like what the California brand does you have the ones saying that a vintage car should stay original. Yet Singer is hotter than ever. They have jobs coming in from all over the world from Porsche enthusiasts and collectors. The cars Singer produce – or I should say, modify – can be altered down to the smallest detail. Paying attention to these little details is the same approach you can find in the new Singer Reimagined Track 1 Geneva Edition. Take a look at the lock mechanism of the deployant clasp. Or see how the rivet in the strap matches the rivets in the racing seat of the car. These minuscule details make a huge difference, don’t you agree?
