Tudor Introduces A Slimmer Black Bay 58 With Master Chronometer Certification And Another Bracelet For The Black Bay 58 GMT
Tudor expands its lineup of mid-size dive watches with an updated Black Bay 58 and a new bracelet option for the Black Bay 58 GMT. Both watches keep the familiar 39mm case and continue to draw on late-1950s Tudor dive-watch aesthetics. The three-hand model adds technical upgrades, revised case proportions, and Master Chronometer certification. These changes show Tudor’s push to standardize higher-performance specs across core collections while preserving the Black Bay’s signature design language.
Since its 2018 debut, the Black Bay 58 has been the darling of watch enthusiasts worldwide. It offers more compact dimensions than the original 41mm models and draws heavily from the 1958 reference 7924 “Big Crown.” The latest version keeps those proportions but introduces a thinner case, an updated dial, and new bracelet options. Tudor also takes the GMT variant introduced in 2024 and rounds out its bracelet options. Importantly, both the three- and four-hand models now follow Tudor’s broader shift to METAS Master Chronometer certification.
Rundown: Tudor Black Bay 58
The updated Black Bay 58 remains a charming stainless steel diver with a 39mm case. Tudor has made a 0.2mm reduction in the thickness, though, giving the new version an 11.7mm profile. The unidirectional bezel features a 60-minute scale with a red triangle at the 12 o’clock position. A subtly domed matte dial keeps its gold-tone accents and applied markers filled with Super-LumiNova.
The Snowflake handset remains, albeit with slight refinements at the base. This is the same change made to the Black Bay in 2024. The seconds hand now includes a lollipop detail inspired by earlier Tudor divers. Tudor has also reduced the dial text to two lines, matching other Master Chronometer models. The redesigned crown sits more flush with the case, but the 200m water resistance remains.
Tudor Kenissi-manufactured caliber MT5400-U powers the watch. This automatic movement displays hours, minutes, and seconds. It uses a silicon hairspring inside a variable-inertia balance and offers a 65-hour power reserve. COSC certifies the movement as a chronometer first. Then, METAS tests the completed watch. In addition to the three-row rivet-style bracelet, Tudor now offers the Black Bay 58 on a five-row stainless steel bracelet or a fitted rubber strap. All options include Tudor’s T-fit clasp with tool-free micro-adjustment.
Rundown: Tudor Black Bay 58 GMT with a new bracelet option
Technically, nothing major has changed for the Black Bay 58 GMT. That means it has the same 39mm by 12.8mm dimensions as the debut model from 2024. In general, though, it diverges from the three-hand Black Bay 58 by replacing the 60-minute dive bezel with a 24-hour insert in burgundy and black with gilt numerals. The matte black dial keeps its golden accents, applied markers, and Snowflake handset. A fourth hand provides the GMT function, but the main 12-hour hand can be adjusted independently in one-hour increments, making the watch perfect for traveling. The case remains slimmer than the larger (41mm) Black Bay GMT models. This preserves the compact wearing profile associated with the 58. Water resistance remains 200 meters, keeping it consistent with the rest of the Black Bay 58 line despite the added complication.
Inside the case, you’ll still find the Kenissi-manufactured caliber MT5450-U. This movement offers a 65-hour power reserve, a silicon hairspring, and COSC and METAS Master Chronometer certification. The only news here is that Tudor now also offers the GMT on a five-row bracelet. The cut-to-size rubber strap and three-row rivet-style bracelet both remain options. All versions include the T-fit clasp.
First impressions
Tudor continues its quest to refine its collection. And today, it was the BB58’s turn. The updated Black Bay 58 introduces a thinner case, a revised dial layout, and METAS certification. Notably, more bracelet options are now available for both the three-hand diver and the GMT. Both watches retain the key 39mm size that has defined the Black Bay 58 since 2018 and introduce subtle yet noteworthy updates.
Price-wise, you’re looking at €5,220 / US$5,650 / CHF 4,600 for the Black Bay 58 GMT on the five-row bracelet and €4,920 / US$5,350 / CHF 4,350 for the slimmed-down Black Bay 58 Master Chronometer on the same one. Prices range down to €4,580 / US$4,975 / CHF 4,050 for the 58 on rubber. For more information, check out Tudor’s full Black Bay 58 lineup.
