Introducing: The New Bremont Altitude MB Meteor Time Zones, Part Of The Altitude Air Force Blue Capsule Collection
Bremont is a brand that almost literally fell from the sky, and that’s probably why its Altitude collection of pilot’s watches is the most important one. So when there’s an all-new addition to the Altitude lineup, it’s worth investigating. The new watch doesn’t disappoint: the Bremont Altitude MB Meteor Time Zones proudly shows its Martin-Baker heritage, with updated features and a practical travel complication. The watch in RAF blue features an internal bi-directional Roto-Click world-time bezel, with a rotating city ring and a 24-hour day/night indication. And since these work together with the central GMT hand, the system allows the wearer to read multiple time zones quickly. The new travel watch in the Air Force Blue Altitude Capsule Collection is accompanied by the Altitude 39 Date, Altitude MB Meteor, and Altitude Chronograph GMT.
“Squadron leader” of the Air Force Blue Altitude Capsule Collection is unmistakably the newly constructed Altitude MB Meteor Time Zones. This piece, with its RAF-inspired blue dial, is a travel watch in a titanium case featuring a characteristic blue PVD-coated knurled mid-case barrel. The color matches the dial in an understated way. The lightweight yet robust 42mm Grade 2 titanium Trip-Tick case has a 12.23mm profile, a 49.3mm lug-to-lug, and a 100m water resistance rating. It also integrates Bremont’s signature antishock mounting system and a soft-iron antimagnetic cage to protect the movement.
Introducing the New Bremont Altitude MB Meteor Time Zones Air Force Blue
The dual-crown configuration gives the new watch a familiar look, but it’s practical first and foremost. The crown at 2 o’clock controls the internal bidirectional Roto-Click world-time bezel. It displays a rotating city ring. Because the ring works corresponds with the centrally mounted, red-tipped GMT hand and 24-hour scale, you can read multiple time zones rather quickly once you get the hang of it. The lower crown handles the winding and time-setting duties of the Bremont BB641 automatic caliber, which is based on the Sellita SW330-2. This 4Hz movement offers a 56-hour power reserve, and its functions include hours, minutes, central seconds, GMT, world time, and date.
The Air Force Blue dial provides a calm, legible backdrop for the layered information display. Applied stencil-inspired numerals filled with blue-glowing Super-LumiNova ensure visibility in low light. Adding to the legibility are glossy black hands and subtle red accents on the GMT and central seconds hands.
The MB Meteor Time Zones Air Force Blue is available on a titanium bracelet for €6,550 / US$6,250 / £5,450 or with your choice of a blue leather/rubber strap or a black-and-blue NATO strap, both for €6,100 / US$5,850 / £5,100.
Altitude MB Meteor Air Force Blue
The MB Meteor is the core of Bremont’s Altitude collection and, in fact, the brand’s icon. The watch has the same 42mm titanium Trip-Tick case as the Time Zones model, including the dual-crown configuration and internal Roto-Click bezel. With its 12.23mm profile and 49.3mm lug-to-lug length, the lightweight watch is easy on the wrist and, in the new blue attire, easy on the eye. It also seems to be a watch that’s easy to work with in and out of the cockpit.
The Air Force Blue colorway is a natural addition to the existing design language. The color does not in any way overshadow hallmark details, such as applied luminous numerals and the distinctive lollipop central seconds hand with pull-cord counterweight. This watch, which shows the hours, minutes, seconds, and date, is powered by the Bremont BB14 automatic movement. Based on the La Joux-Perret G100 caliber, it runs at 28,800 vph and provides a very adequate 68-hour power reserve. It is visible through the case back’s sapphire display.
The Altitude MB Meteor Air Force Blue is available on a titanium bracelet for €5,950 / US$5,700 / £4,950, or you can get it with either a blue leather/rubber strap or a NATO strap for €5,500 / US$5,300 / £4,600.
Altitude Chronograph GMT Air Force Blue
The Altitude Chronograph GMT Air Force Blue is a multifunctional pilot’s watch. It combines elapsed-time measurement and a second-time-zone indication in an aviation-oriented layout. At first sight, the dial might look a bit complex, but a second look will show it’s not that difficult to understand at all. A pilot can read instruments of all sorts anyway, so this watch won’t pose a problem. The chronograph layout includes a 30-minute counter at 12 o’clock and a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock, the latter of which also incorporates the date display. Both of these sub-dials contain small yet bold white hands. At 9 o’clock, the running-seconds register features a three-bladed black propeller-like hand with white tips. The GMT function is displayed by a red arrow-tipped hand on the two-tone gray-and-blue 24-hour scale flange.
This watch’s 42mm 904L stainless steel Trip-Tick case also features a blue DLC-coated barrel, a 14.7mm profile, and 49.62mm lug-to-lug. Inside this 100m-water-resistant exterior lies the Sellita SW500-based Bremont BC781 automatic movement, beating at 28,800 vph and delivering a 62-hour power reserve. The Chronograph GMT Air Force Blue is available with a steel bracelet for €6,900 / US$6,600 / £5,750, as well as with a blue leather/rubber strap or a NATO strap for €6,600 / US$6,300 / £5,500.
Altitude 39 Date Air Force Blue
The most economical way into Bremont’s Air Force is the Altitude 39 Date. This everyday watch features a 904L stainless steel Trip-Tick case with a DLC-coated barrel, a 39mm diameter, 47.17mm length, and 11.19mm thickness. There’s just one crown this time, but the Altitude 39 Date still looks like a proper Bremont pilot’s watch. The Air Force Blue dial features a contrasting black minute track and applied numerals filled with blue-emission Super-LumiNova. Inside the 100m-water-resistant case beats the Bremont BB14 automatic caliber, again based on the La Joux-Perret G100. It runs at 28,800 vph and offers a 68-hour power reserve. The watch is available on either a steel bracelet for €4,750 / US$4,550 / £3,950 or a blue leather/rubber strap for €4,450 / US$4,250 / £3,700.
All of these new pieces look every inch like veritable Bremont pilot’s watches in their new RAF-inspired blue colorway. The DNA of the original Martin-Baker is still prominently visible. And some of the evolutionary touches, such as a more refined knurling on the barrel, have done the different watches good. The introduction of the Altitude MB Meteor Time Zones travel watch is an enrichment of the Altitude collection, and it will undoubtedly also be available in a non-Air Force Blue design.
