This year’s introduction of the new Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch, Seamaster 300, De Ville Trésor, Constellation, and black ceramic 300M is a good reason to catch up with Omega’s CEO and President, Raynald Aeschlimann.

On the first (Speedy) Tuesday of this year, Omega introduced its new and improved version of the iconic Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch. A combination of the latest innovation when it comes to movements and heritage when it comes to design. Then, at the end of March, Omega introduced the other aforementioned watches. New models in each Omega collection: Speedmaster, Seamaster, De Ville, and Constellation. Big things!

New Omega watches are always big news! So I had a conversation with Raynald Aeschlimann about the current state of the industry and the most important lessons learned from these special times. Also, we talk about the new Seamaster 300, its special alloy version, the new De Ville Trésor, and, of course, the new Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch.

Wonderful interview! More of these please. Almost it is like Mr Aeschlimann was emotional towards the end talking about the Moonwatch! Such passion! Thanks for sharing with the Fratelli!

Thank you very much for these emotional statements – especially to the brand and the iconic moonwatch 😊.Also for me the new hesalite version with the Master-Chronometer-movement really is the perfect addition to the originals 105.012 and 145.012. Only the OMEGA-sign in the 12 o’clock position is not the slim one from the 60ies that I love so much. But the new modell with the fantastic new movement shows the right way into the future: evolution in direction to perfection! Keeping the iconic design – compliments to thedesigners and the department for developement. Now the beloved moonwatch can even stay on your wrist if you work every day with an MRI-tomograph – just great! That’s it!

Personally I don’t need a Worldtimer. But I have to admit: this Aqua Terra Worldtimer has such a beautiful dial: it looks better than most of the competitors of other brands.

Omega shows strength in this crowded market. The only thing I want to ask Mr. Aeschlimann to do: Evolving the icons, the classic Omegas for a clear profile of the brand. Not too much versions, not to many models. Less can be more.

Really great work done with the new Moonwatch: there may be no effort more difficult than to evolve such an icon with caution! Congrats!

When you asked about the possibility of other complications for the De Ville Trésor, I was hoping we’d hear about a chronograph inspired by the old De Ville chronos of the late-60s/early-70s…

I think there’s room for some kind of “heritage-inspired-but-modern” De Ville chrono in the lineup — that could be a winner!

I have listened to this interview twice and really liked the conversation! One of my favorite episodes so far. I think together with Chris Grainger (IWC) and Edouard Meylan (Moser), Raynald Aeschlimann represents are more modern, more open leadership style in the Swiss watch industry. I like how passionate he talks about the collections. Considering he had a career in finance before, this shows true enthusiasm ; )
