The Wind Vintage × True North Vintage Rally Timer IV Dreamsicle Is A Sweet Surprise
Oh goodie, today’s new release is inspired by one of my favorite childhood treats! The Wind Vintage × True North Vintage Rally Timer IV Dreamsicle is a fun, affordable watch that should delight. It’s true that pale orange rarely leads a watch launch. Yet, Wind Vintage and the True North Watch Company just made it the star of their fourth collaboration.
Wind Vintage has been busy! Eric Wind and his team are increasingly dipping their toes into collaborative waters. The Rowing Blazers Seiko 5 models have been impressively popular, and so have the collaborations with the True North Watch Company. In fact, today’s Wind Vintage × True North Vintage Rally Timer IV Dreamsicle is the duo’s fourth release.
Wind Vintage × True North Vintage Rally Timer IV Dreamsicle
The new Dreamsicle echoes prior collaborative releases with its 37 × 44mm stainless steel case. The watch’s 13.8mm thickness includes a domed sapphire-coated mineral crystal. For those who enjoy strap changes, the Dreamisicle also has an easygoing 20mm lug spacing and drilled lug holes. All told, the compact dimensions should help this watch wear like a vintage chronograph but one that can handle getting a bit wet thanks to its 50m water resistance. Additionally, a steel Oyster-style bracelet is a sound choice for a piece that takes some cues from a bygone era.
It’s no secret that Eric loves vintage Rolex Daytonas, so it makes sense that some elements from those valuable pieces ended up in this watch’s design. The applied, brushed hour indexes and adjacent lume pips are just one of the tells. Also, the sub-dials feature fonts and a layout like the iconic “Paul Newman” Daytonas. Finally, the external tachymeter bezel, straightforward handset, and pump pushers also recall various four-digit Cosmograph references.
The traditional cues, however, end with those because this watch ushers in a wild color palette. The creamsicle-like orange hue on the Wind Vintage × True North Vintage Rally Timer IV Dreamsicle is one of Eric’s favorites. The rest are some of his daughter’s most beloved colors. That said, they do remind me, a South Florida native, of Palm Beach. Or perhaps they’re a nod to the short shorts typically donned by Eric’s sidekick, Charlie Dunne!
A Seiko Instruments VK63 inside
Like previous Rally Timer pieces, the Dreamsicle uses a Seiko Instruments VK63 mecha-quartz movement. This battery-powered caliber feels relatively close to a mechanical powertrain and is quite satisfying. It offers central hour and minute hands, running seconds at 6 o’clock, and a 24-hour sub-dial at 3, along with a central elapsed-seconds hand and a 60-minute totalizer at 9 o’clock. The steel case back is generally blank and ready for engraving, but our press pictures depict a model that Eric and his wife Christine recently gifted to Pope Leo XIV.
Going live on October 2nd, 2026
The Wind Vintage × True North Vintage Rally Timer IV Dreamsicle launches on October 2nd, 2026, at 13:00 EDT. True North will produce 1,986 pieces as a celebration of Eric’s 40th birthday this year. At just US$490, this is a cool, affordable watch that should sell quickly. Furthermore, Eric and Christine have pledged to donate a significant portion of the profits from the sale to the local Palm Beach youth ministry where they live. That’s a nice finishing touch to this whimsical collaboration. For ordering information, visit the True North website.
