The Omega ladies’ novelties are here to shine and this collection is no exception. The Constellation Petite Seconde in Sedna Gold adds a bit of the sparkle we all need in life.

From Cindy Crawford to Nicole Kidman, the iconic Omega Constellation was seen on the wrists of many it-girls — especially in the late ’90s and early ‘00s. The last few years have seen something of a revival. I’ve met so many wonderful women wearing the latest generation of Constellation or its previous versions, so much so that Omega has decided to bring back another well-known model — the Constellation Petite Seconde.

The Very First Constellation Petite Seconde

As part of the Constellation collection, in 2016, Omega released its very first Constellation Petite Seconde. The Swiss brand presented the 27mm timepiece in different alloys from stainless steel to yellow gold. However, all models featured the white mother-of-pearl dial and the small second sub-dial placed at 9 o’clock. But don’t be deceived, the new release is not about bringing back the previous style.

Dream Big

So after five years of waiting, Omega unveils the 34mm Omega Constellation Petite Seconde. And it couldn’t have come at a better time. Slightly more substantial cases for women are a must right now. This Omega delivers on that front with the 34mm case and flowing bracelet providing some notable wrist presence. While the regular ladies Constellation collection offers 27, 28, and 29mm cases, the Petite Seconde captures perfectly the spirit of the current time. For a worldwide female audience, it is pleasing news. However, not only size is a strong style game here. The 38 brilliant-cut diamonds adorn the Sedna gold bezel and beautifully fuse with the iconic mid-bar links bracelet.

The Luminous Dial

For Omega, there are two codes essential to Constellation Petite Seconde in which opposing forces are in tension with one another. In the first, these are beautifully-crafted, contemporary details such as a round date window placed at six o’clock and the skeletonized-leaf hands. In the second, the design based on circles within circles with the small second complication at six o’clock, and obviously, the surrounding diamonds. Although I find this concept extremely feminine, the texture of the burgundy dial and details elevate the design beyond the predictable.

The 8803 Movement

Technically speaking, behind the case back you’ll find in-house Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8803. It’s the new Omega movement designed especially for this model. It features hours, minutes, date, and a small second indicator. The Sedna gold rotor nicely decorates the self-winding movement with the Co-Axial escapement and the silicon balance spring. It is quite powerful, with a 55h power reserve.

The Collection

Just as in the previous version, this piece is sophisticated, feminine, and modern. However due to the 34mm case and the extra diamonds it has an elegant touch with an edge. This model is available in stainless steel, two-tone, and Sedna gold. All of them are set with diamonds. There are 10 models in the collection some of them are accompanied by leather straps, while others come with the bracelet. The retail price for this Sedna Gold Constellation is €35,500 (CHF 35,500). For more information about the entire collection visit the Omega website.
