Steiner Limited

Steiner introduced their new Limited Edition watch last week. Their new line of watches are chronometer certified. The chronometer testing (and approval) took place at the Wempe lab in Glashütte / Germany. The watches have been tested during 15 days according to the DIN 8319 chronometer guide lines. The movements have been tested while being in the  case of the watch. This is a bit different than the chronometer testing and approval procedure in Switzerland, where they test the movement without being installed in the case of the watch. More information about the chronometer approval procedure can be found at http://www.chronometerwerke-glashuette.de

More information about the new Steiner Limited watches can be found at the SteinerLimited website.

Glashütte Original

Jorge Merino over at TimeZone.com reported about this Glashütte Original Senator Sixties. It will be officially introduced at BaselWorld 2007.

The case will be available in stainless steel or in 18kt rosé gold. The thin case feature a concave sapphire crystal and the dial will be available in either silver or anthracite. The watch has an automatic movement, caliber GO 39-52, and will be shown through the display back of the watch. The rotor of the movement is made of 21kt gold. The watch will be sold on an alligator strap. Prices are unknown yet.

People over at the Glashütte Original forum over at TimeZone have gone wild about this watch. For me personally, it is too sixties. Especially the arabic hour markers are a bit over the 60s top. I don’t mind retro watches, but I certainly do not like everything about that era on watches. Perhaps because I am a late 70s kid :-). Anyway, besides the fact that it is nicely crafted and has a well designed case, it will not be included in my own watch collection.

Gisela from 121Time notified me that they have a new watch in their collection! This watch has a tough titanium carbide coating case and bracelet, a Eta 2824-2 automatic movement, case diameter of 39mm and besides the orange bezel you can choose between black and red. The appliqué indexes and hands of the Guilloche dial are luminescent. The price is below 500 USD. Have a look at www.121time.com for more details and more pictures of this Challenger Black Metal!

Note!  I have been informed by Gisela Piercey of 121Time that both front and back crystals are made of saphire. At the time of my original post, the website didn’t mention this correctly.

Sinn Factory Tour

Some guys over at the Sinn Forum @ WatchUseek.com took part in the Sinn factory tour in Frankfurt on the 23rd of February 2007. Sinn has a big share of fans over at WatchUseek and the watch internet portals in general. Personally, I am not a fan of most of their designs because Sinn is focussing a bit too much on pure functionality of a watch (in my opinion). Anway, I always look at their watches with great interest (I owned a Sinn 142St.S for a while) and have a lot of respect for the brand’s innovative creations.

Cick here to see a small pictorial on the Sinn factory visit

Ron Engels, moderator of the Pilot Watch forum over at WatchUseek bought a Sinn 757. Mr. Lothar Schmidt, owner and CEO of Sinn, presented this watch during the Sinn factory meeting. You can click here to see more pictures of the watch.

The 757 is 43mm and considered a Pilot´s watch. The bezel can be turned clockwise and anti-clockwise which is not typical for divers watches due to safety regulations. Case and bezel are tegimented. The bracelet for the 757 will be tegimented, too. The watch is water resistant up to 20 bar (200 meters) and the price of this watch is approx 1270 Euro. (Thanks to U Turn).
