Rob started working in the watch industry for the Signet Group, aged 17. An obsession with watches soon developed. Following an ill-advised BSc in Archaeological Science, he applied for sponsorship to undertake the WOSTEP course at the British School of Watchmaking. The Swatch Group answered his call. He graduated in 2012 having cultivated a special interest in watchmaking theory. He took this passion for technical details into his career at the bench, which began with Omega. In 2015, the chance to work for Bremont and begin writing for aBlogtoWatch arrived simultaneously. He held these positions for a year before taking on a Brand Representative role for NOMOS Glashütte. After three years of managing an international retail network spanning 17 countries, he finally moved over to writing full time. Eventually, he found his way to Fratello Watches, taking up the role of Managing Editor, which he held for two years before shifting into a brand-facing position as the Manager of Partnerships. Nowadays, he works directly with brands on media planning and the creation of limited and exclusive watches for Fratello. In his spare time, he acts as navigator of the Kraken Kartel, a shadowy watch-testing institution based at the bottom of the Mariana Trench where they carry out the whims of ISO 6425 from their giant mechanical Kraken. In 2021 it was revealed that Rob is himself a part-time Kraken and is reputedly responsible for the international shortage of Rolex watches after instructing the Kartel to hoard them at the bottom of the sea.
